Old-Fashioned Fresh Pear Pie ingredients

  • 11 fresh California Bartlett pe
  • 2 pie crust
  • 1 T butter Or margarine
  • 1 Egg whites
  • 1 T Sugar

Cooking Old-Fashioned Fresh Pear Pie

1. Stiri sugar with flour, mace and cinnamon; mix with pears so that all slices are coated.
2. Divide pastry dough in half; roll half on floured board and place in 9-inch pie pan. Moisten edge with water.
3. Turn pears into pie pan. Dot with butter and cover with top crust.
4. Crimp edges.
5. Brush pastry with egg white and sprinkle with sugar.
6. Cut 4 slits in top to allow steam to escape.
7. Bakei on low shelf in 450 °F. Oven 25 minutes.
8. (It may be necessary to wrap edge of pie with foil if it starts to get too dark.
9. ) Reducei oven temperature to 375 °F. And bake an additional 20 minutes.
10. For best results, allow pie to cool at least to lukewarm before cutting into 8 slices.
